One-Year Art Anniversary: Free Bats & Dawn Wallpaper for All!
On March 9th, 2016, I decided to pursue art seriously. Up until that point I'd drawn casually for two months in 2014 at the gentle prompting of my friend Shweta, but it wasn't until over a year later that I would start my journey.
This was me in late 2014, and the only reason it isn't awful is because Shweta helped me a bit:
This was me last year in 2016:
And this is me now, in 2017:
Today, I'm a much better artist, improving my ability so rapidly I have a hard time believing it myself.
It's incredible that only a year ago I was still drawing stick figures when I tried to draw people.
In celebration of this, on my Art Anniversary I've decided to release free digital wallpapers of one of my recent works in the Soundless Poetry series, "bats and dawn", offered in various aspect ratios suitable for every monitor and digital device I could think of.
- Bats and Dawn 4:3 (standard)
- Bats and Dawn 3:4 (vertical standard)
- Bats and Dawn 5:4 (older taller monitors)
- Bats and Dawn 8:5 (some widescreen laptops)
- Bats and Dawn 16:9 (widescreen)
- Bats and Dawn 9:16 (many phones, including iPhones)
These compressed wallpapers do have watermarks—but as a thanks for kind support, $3+ patreons can get these wallpapers without watermarks.
Over the next few weeks I'll be figuring out my art manifesto. This isn't pretentious, I just figure I should think about what I want to do with my art, what purpose I want it to serve, who I want that art to be for aside from myself (I'm always in the audience of my own art), what statements I want to make to the world—while at the same time not contracting my horizons.
Thank you for being here with me for a wonderful year!
